Month by month

Kruger in November

November is Kruger's baby season. Within a few weeks the impala give birth across the park, the nyala and bushbuck follow, and every predator in the park is busy. It is also the start of a new SANParks tariff year.

If you only want the answer

November suits visitors who want newborns, birds and quiet roads. Expect about 65 mm of rain over 8 days at the park centre, highs of 29.8°C and nights of 19.2°C. Impala lambing starts in early November, the top lodges are on off-peak rates, and the park is quiet until the school holidays in December. A new SANParks tariff applies from 1 November 2026.

November weather: the rains return

The normals give November about 65 mm of rain over 8 days at the park centre, with afternoons of 29.8°C and nights of 19.2°C. Skukuza averages 10.6 rainy days, the most of any month at the station, mostly as afternoon thunderstorms. At Skukuza the reanalysis averages about six days at or above 35°C, and the north is hotter.

The first good rains fill the pans, so the game spreads away from the rivers. Drive early: the camp gates open at 04:30 from November, an hour before the entrance gates, and all gates close at 18:30.

Impala lambing and the summer birds

Singita's sighting log for its concession east of Satara recorded the first impala lamb of 2024 on 6 November, with nyala and bushbuck lambing at the same time and high predator activity around them. Woodland kingfishers and red-chested cuckoos were calling. The summer eagles, Wahlberg's, Steppe and Lesser Spotted, are in residence.

The lambing makes November one of the best months for predator action even though the bush is thickening. Birders get the full summer list, and the far north around Pafuri and Punda Maria is at its best.

New tariffs, rates and bookings in November

SANParks' new tariff year starts on 1 November. The international adult conservation fee was R602 per day to 31 October 2026, and the new fee sheet is reported at R692 from 1 November; check SANParks' rates page before you pay. At Skukuza the reseller lists campsites at R423 per site from 1 November to 8 December 2026.

The top lodges are cheap: Singita Lebombo returns to its off-peak rate of R51,665 per adult on 1 November, and Lukimbi drops to R14,500 from 16 November with a stay-three-pay-two offer to 19 December. Letaba Rest Camp's remaining 64 flood-damaged units were due back by 30 November 2026. SANParks names November to April as its highest malaria-risk months, so take tablets.
